Conviction Integrity Unit

The Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU) is a division of the Circuit Attorney’s Office that works to investigate claims of innocence and remedy wrongful convictions.

The CIU was established by Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore in December of 2023 and is led by former Missouri Supreme Court Chief Justice George W. Draper III.

The Key Objectives of the CIU Are:

To establish a consistent process for reviewing claims of innocence and remedying wrongful convictions;
To enhance the community’s confidence in the CAO and the criminal justice system, and
To establish a culture of integrity by implementing best practices to reduce the likelihood of future wrongful convictions.

To submit your case for review by the CIU, please submit a letter, along with supporting documentation. Due to the number of submissions received on a daily basis, it may be several months or more before your submission can be reviewed.
