City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabriel E. Gore

 

Gabriel Gore was sworn in as Circuit Attorney for the City of St. Louis on May 30, 2023. An experienced prosecutor and trial attorney, Mr. Gore’s top priorities are to restore the public’s confidence in the Circuit Attorney’s Office, fight for justice, and enhance public safety.

 

Mr. Gore began his legal career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri. He later served as Assistant Special Counsel in the Office of Special Counsel John C. Danforth, who was charged by the Attorney General of the United States to review the events surrounding the assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Mr. Gore was a law clerk to the Honorable John R. Gibson of the Eight Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

 

Mr. Gore has been a practicing attorney for nearly 30 years. Prior to his appointment as Circuit Attorney, he was a partner with the Dowd Bennett law firm, where he tried complex civil and criminal cases. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Bryan Cave LLP and an associate at Williams & Connolly LLP. Mr. Gore is a graduate of Parkway South High School, Missouri State University, and the University of Chicago Law School.

 

Mr. Gore’s passion is service to the community. He most recently served on the Missouri State University Board of Governors and the boards of Forest Park Forever and the St. Louis Community Foundation. He was a gubernatorial appointee to the Ferguson Commission, which was charged with making recommendations to move the St. Louis community forward following the unrest in Ferguson, Mo. He was also a founding member of KIPP St. Louis Public Charter Schools.

 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Overall Job Description

The Community Engagement Director is responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust community engagement strategy for the Circuit Attorney’s Office, with a particular focus on building relationships with volunteers, local community partners and service providers. The Community Engagement Director will work closely with Circuit Attorney’s Office staff to assist in the overall coordination of services and opportunities to ensure adherence to the organization mission and values of authentic youth engagement, building community, equitable practices that promote race equity, diversity and inclusion, and strengths-based practice. Participates in meetings with individuals, community organizations, professional groups, neighborhood groups, houses of worship, corporations and other groups to promote an understanding of community needs. Mobilizes the community to respond to events and issues affecting children and families.

 

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

· Partner with neighborhoods, community leaders, and police department to make the City of St.

   Louis safer and stronger.

 

· All attorneys will work with the community to target those offenders who are neighborhood.

   problems, even if they do not have convictions.

 

· Attorneys working with the Community Engagement will attend neighborhood meetings and

  meet regularly with community and neighborhood leaders.

 

·  A key role of the Community Engagement Director is to bring information from the citizens and community to the Circuit Attorney’s Office to facilitate the most effective solutions and the strategic use of Circuit Attorney resources.
