Statement Regarding State v. Adrienne Martin
June 01, 2015

On July 25, 2013, Adrienne Martin was charged with two felony counts in relation to the death of Brownie, a pit bull terrier. At this time, there are issues with securing the needed testimony to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Therefore, the state dismissed this case late this afternoon.

The statute of limitations has not run out and the option of refiling the case remains open. We are urging anyone with information in this case to please come forward. Despite prosecutors’ belief in a defendant’s guilt with any crime committed in our city, we must have the evidence and cooperation of witnesses to testify in court for prosecutors to seek justice.

Because this record is now closed, we are unable to provide additional details at this time.

Animal abuse is extremely concerning to our office. No living creature should be subjected to abuse of any kind. We continue our commitment to hold animal abusers accountable for their actions and we will continue to pursue cases like these in the future.
